Welcome to Ohm Beads

I recently came across a European charm brand that is right in my backyard and I am pleased to introduce Ohm Beads to my collection of charms!  This company is a local Seattle talent and offers some of the quirkiest and funnest beads around.  The most wonderful thing about Ohm is that their charms are produced with input from fans and retailers, inspiring a high level of involvement and creativity.  Charms are released on a monthly schedule and Ohm encourages their customers to submit your own design ideas through their Community Bead Project.  Currently, they are on a March to 20,000 likes on Facebook and they’re offering some wonderful prizes!  Just for liking, commenting, and sharing on the Ohm Beads Facebook page, you will be entered into a drawing for gift certificates valued at $300 (1st place), $200 (2nd place), and $100 (3rd place).

Ohm Beads have screw/twist-on cores and are completely compatible with Pandora and Trollbeads bracelets.  The size of the charms make them a perfect complement to any Pandora collection.  Ohm offers mainly silver charms, with a selection of 14K beads, and glass Muranos.  The “locks” are the equivalent of Pandora clips but they are silicone lined which keeps them from sliding around and can be placed anywhere on the bracelet.  The hallmark for Ohm is its swirly design and 925 to designate the authenticity of the charms.

One of the first charms I received* is the newly released Ohm handcuffs and I was quite indecisive as to whether to use these for a law enforcement theme or as an homage to the popular 50 Shades of Grey.  Since I live in Seattle, of course I had to pick 50 Shades of Grey!  How could I resist?  I took inspiration from Pandora, Trollbeads, Ohm to put together this lovely bracelet and I actually ran out of room since there are just too many symbols to choose from.  The handcuffs are so delicately crafted and can be worn with both cuffs on the bracelet or as a dangle with one cuff hanging down since it’s not overly long.  I tried it both ways and can’t decide; what do you think?

Ohm Beads can be found through these online retailers.  I am so glad to stumble upon this wonderful brand and will be featuring more beads (and sneak peeks) in the near future so keep your eye out for those!

I really like Ohm Beads! I received an early present a couple of weeks ago. It is the “Live Long and Prosper” hand, which has many meanings in our family and is a great remembrance. 🙂

    • http://charmsaddict.com Leann

I love their sense of humor. That’s a great charm!

  • Ashley

Wow Leann your right both look good! I think I like the cuff dangling the best b/c I like dangle charms overall. But u can’t go wrong which ever way u choose! 🙂

How long has Ohm been around?

    • http://charmsaddict.com Leann

At least a few years although I’m not sure. They’re relatively new.

  • http://aol Yolanda

I really like the Ohm beads. I just bought the Lady of Guadalupe for my xmas bracelet. They do have some really charms.

  • Jenya

I love Ohm Beads! There are so many amazing designs to choose from. If you like meaningful jewelry, Ohm bracelets and beads are perfect for that!

I love this line! The color of their beads are nice. Pandora, Trollbeads and now Ohm!!! So many to choose from.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000351707936 LaShona Johnson-Peterson

These are nice beads as well. Pandora, trollbeads and now Ohm beads.

  • Angela

    Leann,
Great new bead line. Finally went to their site, lots of interesting charms, so many themes love their gift box charm. Amazing, how many bead systems are available.

    • http://charmsaddict.com Leann

They’re fun, aren’t they? I’ll be featuring the gift box this weekend! 😉

  • Maria

They are good looking beads, but I’m not switching from pandora to anything else any time soon. Same reason people keep driving BMW, not because they appreciate this car, or this is the best car on the market, but because this is the most recognizable luxury brand.

In other word, if I spend $$$ on a silly silver bracelet, I want people to know how much I paid for it:)

    • http://charmsaddict.com Leann

      LOL, Maria! 😉

    • Angela

      OMGoodness Maria,
You have me in stitches as I feel the same way, I have hundreds of Pandora beads and several bracelets, but this Summer started with Troll and Redbali.
You are correct Pandora is the more recognizable of them all and no one will ever question the value but as you said not the best.. Amusing to watch peoples reaction to bracelets.. Wonder if you have noticed what I have.. wearing 1 Pandora bracelet people don’t mind asking if it is Pandora, If I wear 3 or more I catch them peeking but they say nothing. If I wear both Pandora and Troll , then look confused, as they are trying to figure out what the beads are . Troll alone, very rarely anyone except the real bead expert have any clue and if someone asks and I say its Troll. They say what is that then I say it’s “The Original ” then they want to see the charms.
I am really liking Troll , I love how unusual some of the silvers are and the glass is spectacular.

  • Michelle

my collection quickly grew from pandora to now wanting troll, redbalifrog and now ohm. oh my! what is a girl to do?

    • http://charmsaddict.com Leann

Haha, my wishlist just keeps growing longer and longer!

  • Michelle

i am really liking the ByBiehl line too! now to figure out what to start with and how to get the most beads !!!! luckily Xmas, my bday, v-day and anniversary are all in a row. So guess what’s on my lists! ? !?….seriously though, wanting ALL of them what should I start with? I think getting my feet wet with the other brands, I might get some glass from Troll along with the silver beads from Redbali and later get the actual bracelet/lock from either or BOTH of them!!!!!! And I see a new jewelry box like a Stackers / one from Angels Deco now needing to house the beads. Maybe I should go thru all my old jewelry i don’t wear and get rid of so i can supplement my bead spending expense? LOL

    • http://charmsaddict.com Leann

I certainly know what you mean, Michelle! I’ve been eyeing byBiehl too, but they are hard to find in the US. Will keep you posted ;).

  • Sharon

I own several OHM beads and like them very much!

  • Michelle

I really think someone should open a specialty store that sold Pandora, Troll, Redbali, Ohm, and By Biehl along with some local indep. Danish designers and be furnished in the sleek, modern danish decor in a quaint little area!!! one can dream right??

    • http://charmsaddict.com Leann

      Wouldn’t that be nice!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000351707936 LaShona Johnson-Peterson

I just came across a store in my area that sells Ohm beads and they are 50% off as the store owner is discontinuing the line. She said its not selling because everyone wants the pandora brand. I am going to go and check this out!!!

    • Susan

Oooo. What is the store name? Do they have a lot still in stock?

      • Erin

I would be interested as well!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000351707936 LaShona Johnson-Peterson

It’s called simply charming in Ohio. I did go and bought 5 beads. 2 were glass Murano, 1 a crystal bead and 2 silver. They didn’t have a huge inventory but I was able to get beautiful pieces. I’m so excited!!!!!

    • Susan

      Awesome. Thank you.

      • Erin

Yes thanks! I just tried calling them and she said that the weren’t on sale…wondering if I got the wrong store? I am going to look in my area too. Thanks for your help!

  • Erin

    Leann,
You asked if we liked it as a dangle or both cuffs on the bracelet…I wonder how it would look with both cuffs on the bracelet, but with a murano in the middle? It might highlight both charms!

  • rainey

    Too funny!

I love the personality of Ohm beads and I think they have beautiful small botanical spacers.

I don’t have a young daughter or grand daughter but if I did I would certainly get some of the wonderful beads they make like the sand castle, gnome, toadstool, etc.

I only wish some of their beads like the Christmas tree and Jack-O-Lantern were scaled up about 10% in size for adult bracelets.

    • http://charmsaddict.com Leann

That’s true, Rainey, they are dainty but fit great with Pandora ;).

  • Rachel

    Leann-
Youre right, handcuffs are extrememly cute! i like them non-dangle.. looks a little more tidy, but thats just me 🙂

  • Angela

    Leann,
Just saw that you had the Cricket Bat dangle and Cell Phone on this bracelet that they are beside each other is too funny ,my Sister calls me from matches with play by play. I have the Phone and finally was able to get 2 Bat charms last month, one for each of us. I couldn’t figure where I wanted to use mine, I have other Pandora sport charms… it just seemed out of place in the US.
Seeing the two together has inspired me to do a bracelet that reminds me of my Sisters… Thanks.

    • http://charmsaddict.com Leann

Oh that’s a lovely idea! What other beads are you looking to use?

      • Angela

The dress, shoe pearl dangles, cat on pillow, dog in dog house.S clips, not my fab.but we both have them, Star and. Faceted Muranos.Rose spacers and maybe a couple birthstone blooms or the older birthstone dangles if I can find one for November.Like your idea of using an Open Work charm at the start so will use Picking Daisies. If there is space something with hearts.

  • Miss G

When I started my Pandora collection I was adamant of keeping my collection free of Trolls and unicorns. Then I fell (hard) in love with Trollbeads colorful glass Muranos and RBF silvers. I don’t mind intermixing anymore, however, I tend to keep my Pandora with Pandora and intermix my Trollbead glass Muranos and RBF silvers. There is a huge difference and I love both collections

    • Angela

      Miss G,
You sound like me. ..I was all Pandora till just this Summer Leann got the Troll green kit,I was so taken with the vibrant greens of the glass beads. Months back had seen a Troll ad from a local store and paid it no mind, after Leann featured her beads decided it was worth just a look see. Well here I am not 6 months later with 4 full bracelets and working towards #5.I am really enjoying both the collections and adding to them even though my debit card is sure suffering from over use (:
Also tried putting Troll and RBF silvers with Pandora , just did not look right,Pandora is just Pandorra while Troll and RBF seem the perfect match . Wonder if anyone has seriously put together a bracelet with OHM and Pandora… and can report on how that combo looks.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000351707936 LaShona Johnson-Peterson

I just started with charm bracelets a few weeks ago. I’m new to this. For my first bracelet I mixed trollbeads and ohm beads on a troll bracelet. U
I have a total of 8 beads:combination of Murano, pave, silver. They look beautiful together.

    • http://charmsaddict.com Leann

Me too! I’m the same way, I like to keep Pandora separate but I don’t mind mixing TB and other brands.

  • Angela

Wonder why so many of us mix other brands but keep Pandora separate, is it because, they are usually smaller, we think it is exclusive, or is it because the other brands bring out the creativity in us and we like certain charms and love to put them together, designing our own looks.

  • Jennifer

Leann, I was wondering if you could tell me if the size of the Ohm Murano beads would be compatible with Trollbead glass. They don’t have to be exact, but I don’t want it to look terribly out of place, and I have not seen Ohm glass in person, only the silver. 🙂

    • http://charmsaddict.com Leann

They are comparable size to Pandora Muranos which are close in size to the Trollbeads glass so I think you’re good! 🙂

      • Jennifer

Great, thanks Leann! I ordered one yesterday for my blue bracelet.

      • Farah

        Hey Leann!

I keep watching your blog every other day! Do you like the murano ohm beads? Personally I love the trollbead colors and variations, pandora murano’s seem rather boring so i was wondering how the ohm murano’s would be… Sometimes they look like plastic on pictures :/ I hope they are better irl :p

      • http://charmsaddict.com Leann

I haven’t tried out the Ohm Beads muranos yet, I do have a couple faceted ones and they’re great. 🙂

  • Debbie

    Hi Leann and everyone,

This is a really interesting conversation. To answer Leann’s question first, I think both handcuffs on the bracelet – after all it is a fifty shades themed bracelet and I think Christian would insist on tethering both hands!!!!

I keep my Pandora separate, not because I am stuffy about mixing brands but I just think that Pandora has a certain look and feel to it that makes it different, and most of the charms are so much smaller than Troll or redbalifrog, so look odd when mixed.

I stress this is only my personal opinion but I am not overly fond of the Pandora silvers as I find them a bit too shiny for my taste. As a labour of love I have patiently collected gold and two-tone for the past 4 or 5 years, and believe me saving up enough money for a gold Pandora means only buying one every few months!

Like Angela I only started collecting Troll and RBF this year, and it is so refreshing to be able to order several charms at once, and I am finding that I can fill a bracelet within 3 months as opposed to the 3 years it took me for my gold Pandora.

I think it is wonderful that there is something for every taste in the charms world, and it means we can all create our own little pieces of personal heaven to help us cope with the hectic and sometimes stressful world we live in.

    • http://charmsaddict.com Leann

Beautifully said, Debbie! And I agree with you on the aesthetics of Pandora vs. other charms.

  • Jennifer

I received my Ohm Beads “Aurora Borealis Reflections” bead today. I really like it!. I’m glad I ordered it, it was my first glass bead from Ohm. The quality seems to be very good, and the color is fantastic. Lots of depth.

    • http://charmsaddict.com Leann

Glad you like it! I really like the different colors that are reflected in the bead.

I absolutely love this site! I’m a hopeless Pandora/Troll addict who now has my prized sugar skull charm because you introduced me to redbalifrog. I recently came across a shop in Scottsdale, AZ that had some of the Moress charms. I bought the sleeping cat and I just love it. Here’s a link to an online dealer. Do you have any experience with this line?

    • http://charmsaddict.com Leann

THat’s interesting, thanks for the info Katherine! I have not heard of them before, but will check them out :).

  • Maddie

Any idea if there are any retailers for Ohm Beads in Australia? I’m falling in love with this one.

    • kit

Hi Maddie, not at the moment but you can always purchase online from our website.

    • Leann

I believe there are…but I’m not sure where. You can email them directly to ask :).
