Story by Kranz & Ziegler Link Bracelet Review

story-by-kranz-ziegler-link-bracelet-coverFor their Fall/Winter 2013 Collection, Story by Kranz & Ziegler introduced a new bracelet concept to their line featuring links.  The brand’s trademark leather bracelets are hands down the best on the market, and I was excited to see them explore a different style for a charms bracelet.  The Story charms come in two varieties – buttons which sit on the bracelet and dangles which hang off.  Since the buttons are tailored exclusively to their leather bands, it only made sense that the company would choose to do a link system which would showcase their dangles.

The link bracelets were available initially in 3 finishes: gold, dark oxidized, and silver but this season also includes a rose gold version which is delicately feminine.  Each pair of links can be sold separately and are made from stainless steel which are easy to care for.  This creates a great opportunity to mix-and-match if you like to combine different colors together and makes them incredibly versatile.  Every segment of the link has a carabiner which allows for changing out of the charms and for easy removal of the chain. The Story signature magnetic clasp is used to combine the links with other bracelets including the leather and gemstone ones but otherwise is not necessary.

These bracelets came out around the same time that X by Trollbeads debuted last year, so of course it’s a natural comparison.  Both brands have their own distinctive features; I have been nothing but impressed with X by Trollbeads but its concept does not allow compatibility between brands, whereas Story by Kranz & Ziegler link bracelets has the potential to be used with other charms.  The materials are vastly different – gold, silver, bronze, and rubber versus coated stainless steel, and the use of links are unique as well.  Combining a couple X silver decorative links with the elegant Story chain is a possible option (note: only some X by Trollbeads links can fit with the Story link).  The stainless steel chain is actually relatively light in weight compared to the silver, but stacks beautifully with their leather bracelets.

The Story by Kranz & Ziegler link bracelets are reminiscent of the Tiffany’s open links silver bracelet, but way more functional and affordable.   Each link is 95DKK/$19USD if you want to mix and match or can be purchased as a complete bracelet for 795DKK/$149USD (20 cm). I’m happy to see this brand give their own spin to the traditional charm bracelet which turned out classically simple.  I’ve been wearing my link bracelet with a leather and the effect is casual and glamorous!  Are you intrigued by this product?

Yes – very much so. I’ve been a Story charm fan for a while. I especially love the one in the picture with the combination of gold and oxidized links. I need to find a retailer nearby soon!

Yay! Awesome. You can use the store locator on their site: It’s surprising how many stores actually carry the line but just don’t advertise about it :).

Hi Leann! I love this link bracelet of theirs, especially the rose and dark finishes; they’re different than most other bracelet designs, and so pretty. If I didn’t have so many bracelet projects going on right now, I’d definitely invest in this one. Sometime in the not-too-distant future, maybe. Take care…Kim

There’s always more we want, isn’t there? Hehe, I really love combining it with the leather bracelets, such a great effect :).

Hi Leann! I like how this bracelet looks! Unfortunately I’ve already invested/lost my heart to X by Trollbeads. In April I’ll be going to Australia and maybe (I hope) I will buy there my first Story leather bracelet!! Yay!!
There is only a little part which makes me doubt: the charms are pretty in a fashion way. It’s the type of charms you buy to accessorize your outfit and I think that’s a shame. My bracelets aren’t an accessory, but a real part of me. I collect Trollbeads and Pandora because they have a definite style and a meaning. I still have to be convinced that Story has some personality! I really do want a leather bracelet and I trust you when you say Story’s the best on the market. Up to know I always thought that the prices where too high for me, but in Australia the brand seems a lot cheaper compared to the European pricing. So fingers crossed…

Hi Farah, thanks! I love the Story line but you are right, they are more fashion accessories than personalized jewelry. They stack so well though, you won’t be sorry to try them out. The quality is superb and far above other thin leather bracelets. I hope you’ll like them when you go to Australia. I’m so jealous, btw, I’d love to visit Australia sometime. It’s on my bucket list!
