I am so honored to be introducing the following charms from an amazing designer, Suzanne Hopping. I first noticed Suzanne’s beads on a couple Trollbeads Facebook groups and I was so taken aback at their ornateness and the thoughtfulness behind each charm that I knew I must feature her on Charms Addict.
The first charm in this wonderful collection is PAX. The design was the first winner of the Trollbeads People’s Bead in 2009, but unfortunately the final result from Trollbeads was not exactly what Suzanne had imagined so she decided to have her original idea created. I am so glad she did! The detail is much better than the one that was released by TB; the basic design is a dove embracing the world with an olive branch in its beak. There is no comparison between the two, you can see every feather in the dove’s wings and the earth is actually round whereas, the TB Pax always reminded me of a hunched over bird.
When Trollbeads People’s Bead 2012 was announced featuring a spirituality theme, Suzanne entered two designs into the contest. When they were not chosen (and I’m surprised they weren’t!), she decided to go ahead and make both of them. My personal favorite from her collection is called the Prayer Wheel. The inspiration behind this charm comes from the Buddhist Prayer Wheels which are used to accumulate wisdom, good karma, and to purify bad karma. Every time the wheel is spun each revolution is counted as a prayer. The mantra “Om mani padme hum” is inscribed on the outside of the wheel. Not only is the design of this bead amazing, the intention behind it only adds to its beauty. I find myself “worrying” this charm a lot, spinning it back and forth, so I’m glad I’m getting plenty of good karma while I’m at it!
Lastly, the latest offering from Suzanne is the amazing Universal Cross – the Triquetra design in the center symbolizes the Celtic Love Knot or Trinity Knot which represents the eternity of love. The charm boasts a Greek cross on all sides, creating an even and symmetrical look from every angle. It has no beginning and no end. I love the triquetra, which I first encountered on Charmed, the TV series, and I’ve always gravitated towards Celtic knots as they are one of my favorite symbols.
For some details: PAXSUZbeads are universal core, which means that they will fit with any bracelet brand. These wonderful creations are sold through Suzanne’s Etsy store. The prices are $45 for PAX, $55 for Prayer Wheel, and $55 for Universal Cross, and $5 for international shipping (she is based in Australia). They are a natural complement for any Trollbeads bracelet, and definitely a focal piece for a Pandora bracelet. I am ecstatic to have gotten* these as they are a must for any charm collector.
The worst dilemma I had was which beads to pair with them so as to properly showcase the silvers. After much internal debate, I settled on white and cream beads to highlight this collection and as a reflection of their purity. Have I said it? I’m obsessed with these charms and I can’t wait to see what Suzanne has in store for us next!
