PAXSUZbeads Longevity Dragon

paxsuzbeads-longevity-dragon-photo1A couple weeks ago, Suzanne Hopping of PAXSUZbeads released her latest designs featuring far east themes called the Longevity Dragon and the Wheel of Life, aka Dharmachakra.  Today, I’m taking a focused look at the Longevity Dragon which I loved from the get-go.  The dragon is one of the most powerful creatures in Chinese mythology and a common symbol for good luck.  They are depicted as long and serpentine, a much leaner version of the Western style dragon.

For the Longevity Dragon, Suzanne has depicted the auspicious fabled animal wrapped around the Chinese word for longevity.  The dragon circles the symbol entirely and actually holds his own tail in his mouth.  The “shou” character is embossed on the front and back, with the dragon featured on the top and detailed all around the outside of the bead. The charm is solid and on the larger side, the perfect complement to Trollbeads and *redbalifrog* silvers.

For those of you unfamiliar with Suzanne’s work, these beads have large cores and can fit on all bracelet types, including Pandora and Trollbeads.  Her brand, PAXSUZbeads is hosted on Etsy and has her entire line of charms for sale.  Also check out my reviews on her other charms, including The Eagle, Art Deco, Diamond Heart, Universal Cross, Prayer Wheel, and Pax. I’m so excited about this bracelet as it showcases a few really awesome beads I recently acquired and a number of other Chinese motif beads (I have a surprising number of dragons!).  Isn’t this design exquisite?

I received my Longevity Dragon several weeks ago and absolutely love it. As with all of Suzanne’s beads, the detail is fantastic and the bead is weighty – no skimping on the silver. It goes beautifully with Redbalifrog and I’m planning a bracelet with the Longevity Dragon as the focal point.

Yay! Aren’t her beads amazing? These definitely are hefty :). What else do you have planned for your bracelet?

  • Amalia J

Wow it’s gorgeous! Curious, what’s yr chinese zodiac sign?

    • Leann

I’m the year of the pig. 🙂 I have lots of things with pigs on them, but haven’t found a good pig charm :/.

    • Amalia J

Aw but I liked that pig dangle reminds me of a piggy bank! Try looking for a monkey bleh 🙁

      • Leann

That one is cute and I have it, but I’d love to see a full bodied pig that goes on the bracelet ;). The pig head is just bizarre. Do you have the monkey family? I think that one is pretty cute and much better than the dangle :).

      • Amalia J

I totally agree, that’s the one I got cause I didn’t care for the dangle. I also hope they come out with full bodied ones. I have the pig head (peer pressured purchase!) but it reminds me of butcher shops they used to have in Europe .. Not fond of it either 🙂

      • Leann

I also have the pig head, but it represents Hawaiian luaus for me. Haha! We’re both thinking about food when we see it ;).
