Pandora Cruise 2014 Recap

pandora-unforgettable-cruise-2014-allure-of-the-seasWe just got home from the exciting Pandora Unforgettable Cruise, and boy was it exciting!  This year, we sailed from Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida which is a bit further away than Port Canaveral, our starting point last year.  Since I didn’t realize that fact until too late, we made it to the ship barely with just enough time to spare.  The program was much the same as the previous trips; workshops on sailing days and shopping on port calls.  The staff was half returning and half new ones, but Charlotte (the Pandora Facebook social manager) was sorely missed as she left the company at the end of the summer 2013.

The Pandora events included 3 cocktail parties, Sip & See Summer 2014 Collection, workshops (Tying the Knot, Stylist Tips, Pandora Trivia, Q&A, and Pandora Photography), and two shopping trips on Jamaica and Cozumel.  Aside from the initial swag bag, each event also had a special giveaway and prizes given out during the cocktail parties.  Black fabric and leather cords were handed out to each person during the Tying the Knot workshop, infinity scarves were awarded to a few people during the Stylist Tips, a quadruple fold makeup case for the winners of Pandora Trivia, and we each got an exclusive blueberry EOS lipgloss during the photography session.  We also had a fun photo scavenger hunt with the winner receiving a pineapple trophy and the Sparkling Pineapple charm!

This is my third year with the cruise, and I wasn’t as interested in the workshops this year as they were the same ones from the previous years – the photography session was by far the most interesting, mainly because it was fresh and different.  I sincerely hope if there’s a cruise next year, that they will come up with some new ideas.  I didn’t focus on shopping as much either, and spent most of my budget in Jamaica where they had the just released Pandora Mother’s Day collection.  There were only shop-in-shops on this trip, and the one store I went to in Cozumel hadn’t gotten the new collection or the promotional sets either which was very disappointing.  I didn’t mind not spending too much money this time and we actually did an excursion in Jamaica and Cozumel which was my priority.  I purchased several pieces from Mother’s Day and the Shimmering Lace set, and I am so in love with it!

Rather than getting raffle tickets this year for the prizes, they added our names into the drawing and we could only win once a day, which is a change of procedure from the previous times.  Since we had only half of the people attending as we did last year, the odds should have been better for winning, but there were still folks who didn’t win anything.  I feel that there were a lot less items overall, and less variety too.  There were a few product giveaways during each cocktail party from the upcoming summer, and I was lucky enough to get the Lucky in Love dangle.  I’ll do a feature on the Sip & See Summer 2014 Collection next week with live pictures of the charms and also my impression of the pieces.

All in all, I had an amazing trip!  I got to see old friends and make new ones, I really enjoyed the Caribbean island port calls, and there was lots of time to enjoy the ship around the Pandora events.  I can’t wait for next year’s and if you’re interested in attending the Pandora Unforgettable Cruise, usually the announcement for the next year won’t be until the fall, but of course I’ll keep you all updated ;).  As the staff mentioned during the Q&A session, April is a good time for them because it is in between getting ready for the big releases and also before JCK Vegas, the jewelry industry tradeshow, so it’ll probably be the same month again next year.  I hope you got good information from this recap!  Are you interested in doing a cruise?  Or would another venue appeal to you?

Any news or word on the Australia charm?!!

    • Leann
      • Meghan

I saw this!! My local pandora knows nothing about this charm and the owner was at the pandora conference in Miami. She has not seen the Australia charm and is clueless about it. Are there any updates on it? She said we might not even get it here in the states.

      • Leann

I’ve got no news :(. I’ll post any updates on the blog as I find out!

      • Meghan

Thanks! As always, you’re the best!

  • Courtney-Joy

Sounds, and looks like you had an amazing time! I would love to go on a cruise or some type of Pandora event! 🙂
Did many people travel from over seas to take this cruise? I wish there was something like this in Australia!

    • Leann

There were a few people from Canada and Australia too. It would be amazing to go overseas for a cruise!

      • Courtney-Joy

        Ooo lucky people! 🙂
I hope I can get to go one day!

  • Courtney Williams Tessaro

You were on the Allure??? That is the best ship ever! So exciting. Too bad I could not go! Would have love it!

    • Leann

It was amazing, hard to go on any other ships now! 😉

      • Courtney Williams Tessaro

My parents went on a cruise on that ship a year ago. I am dying to go! I live in FL so that makes it convenient. 🙂

      • Leann

That’s perfect! I might move to Florida just so I can take more cruises. 😉

  • Courtney Williams Tessaro

Oh and when do we get to see the bracelets with your new charms??? 🙂

    • Leann

Haha, soon! I got mainly the Mother’s Day charms :).

      • Courtney Williams Tessaro

        Can’t wait!

      • FairObjective

Leann…looking forward to seeing those Mom’s Day charms you snagged on your trip, and what you’re planning on doing with them. Sounds like you had so much fun; I’d *love* to go on a Pandora cruise, or maybe the resort trip you mentioned. I’m flexible…almost any trip + Pandora sounds great to me! Take care – Kim

      • Leann

I’ve got a light pink spring roses bracelet going, it’s pretty much done but I’m not quite happy with all the charms so I’ll have to rearrange some ;).

      • FairObjective

Leann, that sounds gorgeous; can’t wait to see it. It seems I’m always rearranging my bracelet designs; they’re almost never quite perfect to me. Not really sure what exactly it is I’m looking for most of the time – but I keep trying. Take care…Kim

      • Leann

Yes, that’s the fun part of charms! The endless possibilities ;).

  • frederica

Are they planing on doing the old Australian charm?

    • Leann

No, it’s not going to be re-released.

  • Charmer

I would love to attend a Pandora event but not on a cruise. Do you think there will ever be another venue? It seems like the turn-out was low. Repeat workshops from year to year is not a great way to encourage participants to return year after year. Maybe another venue would bring more participation. I would love to attend some workshops.

    • Leann

After three years of the cruise, I wouldn’t mind going to an all-inclusive resort :). So maybe! I was surprised that there were not that many people this time but I like the more intimate atmosphere.

  • carol

I would love to do a cruise. Mainly for the port shopping and especially the specially engraved charms. It would probably cost me more for charms than the cruise!! Lol

    • Leann

Haha, yes they are hard to resist! I wish the engraving was done more deeply though, I feel like they could rub off :/.

  • Gus

I would love to go on the cruise. Just to be surrounded by ladies with the same obsession would be a gas!!! I didn’t know about the cruises until this year and was too late to sign up. I definitely would be interested and could probably bring a friend too!!

    • Leann

Aww, you definitely should next year! It’s tons of fun ;).

  • Demelza Guing

So I believe a couple of ladies on here have mentioned that there are more top secret charms coming in the summer collection that u had not covered. Well???? News????
Am I going to be just as disappointed as I was with the summer preview of few silvers, muranos or two tones?

    • Leann

      No new info. 🙁

  • Bonnie May

Erika, this drives me nuts!! It would be so awesome if the cruise lined up with my Spring Break, but unless it does there’s no way I could go. I wish Pandora would understand this & consider it next year. Maybe it would expand the pool of people who could go.

    • Leann

Honestly, I hope they don’t do it during spring break because prices for flights and hotels are a lot more expensive. 🙁

      • Bonnie May

*sigh* I know, but I’d rather pay more & be able to go, than just read your blog posts forever! 😉

      • Leann

        True enough! 🙂

      • Érika Perales García

That’s the same reason we don’t book our Autism cruises during spring break, everything is higher… 🙁
And there’s more people too 😀 and therefore everything gets crazier :DDD

      • Leann

Yes, it was still Spring Break when we were at Disney World and it was much busier than last year!

    • Érika Perales García

I think I would consider Spring break if the cruise would sail off of Galveston (I live 20 min away from there) because I have to take my husband and my son and probably somebody else to help us with our son with special needs 😀
So like Leann said “prices for flights and hotels are a lot more expensive” and I would have to multiply that time 4!

  • Maddie

Sounds fun. I can”t wait to see your new things as well. Thank you for sharing Leann

    • Leann

      You bet! 🙂

  • Leann

Aww, that’s too bad but at least you had fun too hopefully! Next year! 😉

    • Érika Perales García

Yes, we do have a lot of fun. And our kids have a “real” vacation thanks to the awesome people that help us 🙂

      • Leann

        That’s fantastic :). I’m glad you had a fun :D.

  • Francine

Leann, what are your thoughts on why low participation this year. Do you think it is the price of the cruise, been there done that, or is Pandora losing some of it popularity? Just wondering

    • Leann

I’m not sure…it’s definitely more expensive and it is also 2 weeks earlier than the one last year so maybe it’s not a convenient time. The program is the same too, so maybe it’s not as worth it for people to do another one.
