Today was the third and final port stop on the Pandora cruise; the lovely Dutch and French island St. Maarten/St. Martin. We had a wonderful day of shopping yesterday on St. Thomas so I wasn’t sure if we would be able to top it, but boy was I pleasantly surprised!
The expedition organized by the cruise planners got a bright and early start to the day. We met on the dock in the morning to head out on a tour of both sides of St. Maarten. It was much better than the one we did on St. Thomas, as the bus was air conditioned and it felt like we saw more interesting places and had more time to explore some of the stops we made. Our little Pandora group grabbed some wonderful pastries and coffees at a marina market on the French side and my husband got some close-up pictures of jet planes landing right over Sunset Beach.
After the tour was done it was time for the best part of the day – Pandora shopping! We got dropped off by the main road of downtown Phillipsburg, the capital of Dutch St. Maarten, and had 2 and half hours to roam around. Of course, we headed straight to the Pandora Concept store and I wasn’t even sure what else I would get since I did pretty well yesterday. After finding just a couple of retired beads I liked, I was at the checkout counter and stumbled upon a whole bin of retired jewelry. Normally, I focus on charms but I had gotten a few of the Liquid Silver pendants a while ago and just fell in love with that line. Unfortunately, they’re almost all retired now so I was incredibly lucky that this store had a treasure trove of retired Liquid Silver. I got a bangle, a couple of rings, and pendants from this collection and was so tickled at my find. I also purchased one of the special engraved Muranos; they have the dark turquoise looking glass with “St. Maarten” engraved in white or the teal flowers for you Murano with the island’s signature pink color engraved. They also had the treasure chest and cruise ship engraved with St. Maarten, the same as St. Thomas.
I’ve been chatting and hanging out with all the ladies from the cruise, including friends I met last year and ones I’ve made through Facebook and it’s just been an incredible time so far! I have been enjoying myself so much more and we’re having a fantastic vacation. Tomorrow is back to the workshops, including summer style tips and “How to Tie the Knot” with the fabric cords.
