Pandora 2013 Showcase

pandora-giftsThis has been an extremely busy year for Pandora with 7 official releases and a number of limited edition charms as well.  The collections included Valentine’s Day, Spring, Mother’s Day, Summer, Travel, Autumn, and Winter, and other sets released were the Chinese Zodiac animals, Essence line, and MLB dangles.  Limited edition pieces, which were not released worldwide, comprising the Sparkling Snake, Bear My Heart, Royal Baby, Breast Cancer Awareness triple smooth pink leather bracelet, I Love to Travel, and Let It Snow.   Next year is gearing up to be just as busy but before we get there, I wanted to recap some of my favorite collections from 2013.

pandora-spring-2013-coverStarting with Spring 2013, the set included two distinct themes – cherry blossoms and fairytale charms.  I absolutely adore the Cherry Blossom design which included the Murano, clip (silver and gold), pavé, pendant, earrings studs, earrings dangles, single flower ring (silver and gold), and flower bouquet ring.  Even though I’m not a fan of enamel, the delicate pink shade completely won me over and I love the motif too of course.

pandora-spring-2013-fairy-tale-coverThe fairy tale charms from Spring 2013 was also a highlight for me; like many young girls, I grew up on Disney fairy tales and dreaming of Prince Charming.  Some of my favorites are the Once Upon a Time, Frog Prince, Happily Ever After, and the Song Bird charms.  The other new fantasy beads are the Mouse in Cup and Princess Tiara.  I redesigned my fairy tale bracelet to accommodate these beautiful additions.

pandora-introducing-bangleThe summer brought a completely new bracelet concept for Pandora as the brand introduced their bangles.  The next evolution of the traditional charm bracelet was well received and is a fabulous way to wear the charms.  I liked the bangle when it first came out, but it took me quite a while to find a combination of beads, dangles, and clips together.  I need to update the blog with a more recent review on the Pandora bangle now that I’ve had it for a number of months.

pandora-essence-collection-coverThe fall was jam packed with new products including the launch of the Essence line and Autumn 2013 collection.  I’ve gotten 2 Essence bracelets to date and 12 of the beads, and I’ve been very satisfied with the quality and the designs.  I’ve yet to offer a review of this collection, although I have posted an introduction on the specifics of the new concept, and it’s on my list to do for next year.  A common complaint, and something that I think has kept this line from taking off, is that these charms are not compatible with the traditional Pandora bracelet and customers are hesitant to invest in another charm bracelet system.

pandora-autumn-2013-cover1Autumn 2013 debuted an enchanted forest theme which boast strong green tones and creatures from the woods.  My favorite color is green so this collection was right up my alley and for me the notable mentions are the Green Pavé Lights, Green Fascinating Murano, Vintage Allure, Family Tree, Autumn Breeze, and Moss.  I purchased an alarming number of charms from this release, and created a brand new forest themed bracelet.

pandora-autumn-2013-cover1(1)The other collection that I couldn’t get enough of, and probably my favorite from the entire year, is the Light as a Feather set!  The Light as a Feather design features micro-set pavé cubic zirconia and came in a charm, earrings, ring, and pendant.  The jewelry are rather large focal pieces especially the pendant and earrings, and I was afraid that they would be overpowering, but they look surprisingly delicate on.

Believe it or not, I just got my first Pandora this April but I now have the barrel clasp, triple wrap black leather and, with the after Christmas sale, the new bangle, along with an almost full silver Pandora bracelet. I look forward to hearing more about your updated review of the bangle now that you have it for months now. Thank you for this site. It’s quite informative especially for a newbie like me.

      Hello Evelyn,
You are going to have so much fun collecting charms for your bracelets
. Charms Addict web site has the best connection to keep you in the (know). Take Care Happy New Year!

      • Evelyn

Thank you. I agree. Pandora and it’s charms are so much fun and addicting. I’m really not into jewelries as I tend to lose it but I wear my Pandora silver bracelet and leather wrap 24/7 and it looks quite new still. Some of the silver I have seems to tarnish when worn on a daily basis but not my Pandora. I will wait for the new review of the bangle before I wear it. Happy New Years to you as well.

        Evelyn’
Hi, I bought the Pandora cleaning cloth (from the Pandora Store). The name brand Pandora cleaning cloth is the best for your Pandora jewelry, the cost is $5.00 worth it. Pandora store will also clean your bracelet at no cost. One of the nice little perks with the jewelry.

      • Evelyn

Darn! We have no Pandora store here at all. I’ve been getting my Pandora items from Jared’s and they do not carry Pandora cleaning cloths. Also, unfortunately, my Pandoras doesn’t come in those nice Pandora boxes but Jared’s boxes.

Sorry computer went crazy. I buy most of my Pandora charms from Jared’s. I love our Jared’s store. If you want some cute box’s I have lot’s I can mail you. My brother and friends have given me most of my collection. I just keep the extra box hum (maybe to collect dust in) . Jared’s will give you cloth bag’s if you don’t want all the Jared’s box’s. I have been getting the bag’s lately. I bought the cleaning cloth from Jared’s if just does not clean as good.

      • Evelyn

It’s o.k. I don’t keep the Jared boxes either. I wear my Pandora all the time so I don’t think I will be needing the boxes. I do appreciate the offer. I love Jared myself. My kid loves their play area and my husband will happily sit where the TV and coffee machine are while I spend about an hour oogling at all the Pandora charms. LOL! Thank you for the suggestion on the cloth bag. I had no idea you can get that. I’ll ask for it next time since the boxes doesn’t do much for me. Oh, I do love how they beautifully wrapped a Pandora charm that I bought for a friend on Christmas. It was so beautiful!

    • Leann

You bet, Evelyn! That’s quite a bit already, good job ;). I’ll get the review together maybe next month.

  • Stumbleine

Looking forward to your review of what works on the bangle! I LOVE mine with 3-7 charms, layered with a couple Alex & Ani bangles. Lovvit!!!

    • Leann

That sounds perfect! I only wear a 3-9 charms on my bangle too :).

  • Katherine Barbosa-Ariza

Love the Light as a Feather. Got the charm for Christmas but now I think I want the pendant lol.

    • Leann

This is such a great design! The pendant is a must ;).

  • Chelsea P.

Well I’m new as of this Christmas to Pandora but I just adore the new Fairytale line and the Unicorn from the Enchanted Forest line! I got the Folklore Murano from my dear hubby for Christmas which I LOVE! I also bought the Pixie charm and I have to say I think it’s one of my faves!

Leann- I’m so thrilled to have found your blog it’s full of so much amazing Pandora info and has helped me a lot!! Thanks!

    • Leann

You bet, Chelsea! The Fairytale charms are adorable, you can’t go wrong :D.

The reason I think Essence is not taking off is that the charms are just plain long boring. The charms do not tell visual story like the traditional Pandora charms. JMO.

    • Coonedog 7

      Hi Francine’
I do like the Essence collection. I bought the Essence bracelet with 3 charms. This bracelet is not as much furn. More of a statement about a woman. I want add other charms to bracelet.

      • Francine

Coonedog 7, Yes, you are so right, the bracelet does not seem as fun, but I am glad that you like your.

  • Momo Pinkie

Do you have a full list of charms that are retiring as there are quite a few charms on sale for the boxing day/new year sale? Just so we can track down the ones we don’t have but would like as it will be the last chance to buy.

    • Leann

I don’t have any info on the Pandora retirement yet. It’ll be posted here when I do!

  • Tracy

Great recap! I just stared collecting at the beginning of this year, and your blog has been such an awesome resource.

I actually didn’t buy a lot from the regular collections … Nothing from the spring or Christmas, a few from the summer and fall. I did build a beach summer bracelet and fall bracelet, but used a lot of the older charms on both.

There was so much from the older collections, and retired charms I was buying, and I guess these appeal to my taste more … I do love the Essence collection. I don’t mind it needs it’s own bracelet, and don’t find the charms boring, lol. I actually prefer the charms that aren’t as obvious about what they represent, so maybe that’s why I like the older charms and Essence.

The good news is there’s plenty of different charms and styles of charms to make us all happy 🙂

    • Leann

Thanks Tracy! I’m glad you found it helpful.

The older collections are classic so you can’t go wrong with any of them ;). There’s definitely a lot to suit everyone’s tastes!

  • Lisa

I love the light as a feather set. I got the whole set from my boyfriend for Christmas and my other faves are the effervescence muranos, the blue is absolutely stunning! I love the whimsical lights and the paves. The sparkling snake, my chinese zodiac, I got from perlen and it is beautiful. I wear it on a black double leather with my son and boyfriends chinese zodiacs, dragon and dog with the oxy crown to separate them.
    Looks like the sparkles win!

    • Leann

That’s perfect! I also love the set, it’s amazing. Those are all wonderful picks, the zodiacs are great to represent loved ones!

  • Jen Tab

It definitely was a big Pandora year for me! Last December I started on my 2nd bracelet and now I have 4 completed regular bracelets, a 5 clip station, a cute bangle with 7 charms and an empty bangle. My poor husband! But, wow, it’s been fun, and this blog has been a big reason for my increased collection! I think of 2013, the cherry blossom theme was my favorite followed by the sea creatures. But that could be because it makes me think of being warm instead of cold and snow 🙂 Although the Winter Wisp and Let it Snow are so pretty together. Thanks Leann, for all your hard work and can’t wait to see what 2014 brings!

    • Leann

Aww, thanks Jen! That’s a quite a collection in just one short year ;). What a great hubby too, so understanding! I love the Cherry Blossom too, the sea creatures are really fun and my bracelet that I made with the summer charms remind me of my Caribbean cruise ;).

  • Laura Summers

I enjoyed the spring collection, but didn’t get much. Once Upon a Time, happily ever after, cherry blossom clip, and speckled beauty. I got a bangle too, which I like a lot.

I loved the summer collection and bought a number of charms from it – 2x starfish clips, one-of-a-kind, splish splash, sea star, teal fascinating, all 3 sea glasses, sail away, lighthouse, teal triple leather, purple triple leather.

Fall brought vino, globe clip, green fascinating, and clear effervescence.

I got Essence the week it came out with freedom and balance. I think it’s incredibly beautiful and delicate.

And winter brought silver bells, St. Nick, pinecone, 3 Wise Men, and BF charm.

Then there were the British exclusives that I love and procured both the royal wedding charm and the royal baby carriage. Even thought they’re from last year, I finally got the Hidden Romance dangle earrings, which are absolutely stunning. And of course…a few older charms via the Pandora store, Rue La La, and the outlet a couple hours away…

Makes me feel slightly ill looking at all it “spelled out” there! Expensive hobby…but so much fun, and at least it will last many years. Can’t wait for you to share some Spring 2014 news with us, Leann. And what about that “Pandora club” charm?! Isn’t that suppose to be this month?

    • Leann

Wow, what a year! Some times it’s better not to review exactly what we’ve all bought ;). I’m working on Spring, hopefully I’ll have some info soon! I don’t have any updates on the Pandora Club either. It might depend on the country, who knows! They’re so secretive about everything :/.

  • Sharon

I’m interested to read that perhaps the Essence line isn’t selling as well as hoped. I was talking to one of the sales assistants in a Dublin Concept Store and she said that they also anticipated it not selling well, and did not get a large supply of individual charms before Christmas. However, she said the line is selling really well and they are short many of the options. I purchased stability myself (after Passion and Courage was bought for me) and I had to take one from display as they were all gone! Maybe it’s a slow burn for Pandora. I love mine I have to say, but I wasn’t that impressed when I saw them at first.

    • Francine

I was just at the Pandora store because a friend of mine asked me to have her bracelet cleaned while I was at the Mall returning a Christmas gift. Only one sales person out of the 7 working was wearing the Essence. I wanted to the brand IRL, must say I still did not like it.

    • Leann

I agree, it’s better in person! I hope they come out with more options soon, I’ve bought all the ones I wanted – I picked ones that were aesthetically pleasing and had a meaning I liked.

  • Shelly Schmidt

I received my first pandora bracelet from my husband for christmas this year! He purchased it at Jareds in the pick a pave set in green with 2 your a star clips along with a gift card for $1,000 so that I could make it mine so to speak! I am also in love with the green theme for fall and had so much picking out charms to style my new bracelet. This is so very addictive and fun! I also received a silver bangle and Pandora Jewelry box. I am still picking out my charms and have taken apart and put back togeather my bracelet many times to get it just right! I currently have 13 charms that consist of The Peridot eye, brown primrose path, fuchia butterfly, red zen, peridot birthday blooms, clear dogwood, wildflower walk, brown and green pave lights, vintage allure, wise owl, birds of a feather, and the daisy safety chain on my first bracelet and have started on the bangle. I put the clear pave lights on it yesterday as a symbol for the new year. Off to my local pandora store today to purchase 2 sphere clips to add to it so the darn thing doesn’t move around so much! No theme in mind yet. Waiting to see what this new year brings!

    • Leann

Wow, what a great husband! That sounds like a lovely bracelet, you’ve done a great job! Did you get those clips? Would love to see a picture if you want to share :).

    • Coonedog 7

      Hi Shelly
      Enjoy your shopping!!! 🙂

  • Samantha

I think i will get the Essence bracelet and a couple of charms for a simple look, i just loooove the colour of the Passion bead.

    • Leann

I really like mine too! Passion is a deep ruby color, if it were dark red I’d be all over it :).
