Novobeads Spring 2014 Review

novobeads-spring-2014-reviewThe Novobeads Spring 2014 Collection came out a few weeks ago and I was immediately drawn to these pieces.  This release is on the smaller side and is focused on spring and Easter.  Nature charms and delicate egg motifs took center stage and today I’ll be reviewing the Curling Vine, Dainty, Spring Garden, and the White and Clear Pavé Egg.  I was so excited to get the beads and was not disappointed.

As my readers may know, I’m quite obsessed with floral themed charms and I love anything to do with flowers, leaves, etc. and I have been very impressed with the quality and detailing of the Novobeads charms.  I’ve reviewed a number of their flower beads and I’ve got a few more I need to photograph.  The Curling Vine, Dainty, and Spring Garden are right up my alley and added to the fact that they have green accents and I’m won over!  These beads make a cohesive set – each one uses mint CZ stones and features mainly leaves.  The Curling Vine is a long wide piece and resembles two sprigs rolled together; Dainty is a smaller version of the Curling vine and is a small branch of leaves; and Spring Garden is a spherical design and continues with the foliage theme.

The new Eggs continue the look introduced with the sparkling macaroons in silver, gold, and rose gold finish. There are pavé set crystals all over the surface and they makes these ordinary items very glamorous. The innovative feature of these is the figure-8 core which allows them to hang right side up when used as a pendant on a necklace. There’s also a plain silver version is a great option for those that don’t go for the jeweled look.

Novobeads have large cores and can fit on all bracelets including Pandora, although their own bracelet is really unique and lovely. Perlen has been very busy in the past month and Novobeads is another brand that they’ve added to their shop – they’re the first European store to carry the line and offer free international shipping! While the main Novobeads site still haven’t added this collection to their website, it is available at Perlen now. What do you think of this collection?

I too love leaves and these are lovely. I’ve started to put together an egg bracelet and these eggs are a must!

    • Leann

That’s perfect! These vines are so cool, I’m glad you like them :).

  • jae

Your bracelet is so lovely-You might have won me over to green 🙂

    • Leann

Thanks, Jae! I loooove green so I’ve got a lot of glass in that color ;).

  • rainey Smith

I ordered these as soon as they were available since they’re such a charming set. I’m not a fan of pavé but I think Novo used the CZs with such a stylish touch that they really are an appropriate flash of color that enhances rather than the Las Vegas overkill look of Pandora.

It’s good that you photographed the Curling Vine from another angle because there’s a distinct “right” and “wrong” side. Still, if you like to see a bit of chain showing through (I do) it works. I had only seen the Novo pic of the “right” side so I was a bit taken aback so I’m glad you let people see and decide for themselves.

All said, it’s a delightful group and I may order a couple more sets and wear it with just Novo’s mini CZs in Spring colors. I DO like your bracelet with pearls tho.

    • Leann

Thanks, Rainey! I really like these too and agree that the splash of color with the CZ is great. I guess it’s supposed to be the back of the vine, I didn’t quite expect that either but like you, it didn’t bother me. Sounds like you’re a fan of this brand! I’m so happy they’re on Perlen now and is more available for customers worldwide.

I have several silver charms that I like a lot. A lot — their skull, Christmas wreath and these newest botanicals for example. Victoria at Endangered Trolls introduced me to their CZs and I think they are incomparable! The most precise cutting, most lively sparkle and the most complex colors available in my opinion. I also love the way their locks are designed to fit into designs without distracting from them with “dead” space or mechanisms.

I have also found Novo to be very responsive to phone requests and returns. That’s crucial if you don’t have a retailer where you can see these things (I don’t). So I’m grateful to them for that.

So, yeah, I guess that makes me a fan even if Novo is probably, like RBF, a smaller part of my collection. I love the stuff I’ve chosen very much.

Hi Leann. Your bracelet design here is my favorite in recent memory; it’s *beautiful*! The color scheme you chose is something I’d love for myself: natural looking greens, creams/neutrals with a little tan sparkle – so pretty. Novobeads is a great brand, with great customer service. I’m going to have to get these new leafy beads; love almost anything leave-related, and these are so well done. Kudos on this; I’ll be coming back to this post frequently just to gaze at the awesome design. Take care…Kim

    • Leann

Wow, that’s high praise, Kim! Thanks so much :). I thought it would go perfect with the charms I’m featuring and also the season :).

  • rainey Smith

Novo didn’t get these up for a while but it’s been on their “New” page for at least a couple weeks. You can see and order them there.

    • Leann

Ah ok! I didn’t see it on their landing page or the charms page.

  • Vanessaqq

I am wondering if the butterfly lock is from NOVO, is it?

    • rainey Smith

Yup. When the locking mechanism is hidden inside the design element it’s Novo.

I don’t have the butterfly but I like their clasps very much! I have the nautilus shell and the flower. I desperately wish they would do a bat with extended wings for Halloween and a holly bough or a jingle bell for Christmas.

      • Leann

Great ideas! Those would be perfect for the holidays :).

      • FairObjective

What a terrific idea (a bat with extended wings for Halloween, and a holly bough or a jingle bell for Christmas). I’d be very happy to collect all 3 of those designs! Very creative, most definitely. Take care…Kim

    • Leann

Yes it is! They’ve got their own lock and chain system, which is slightly different from Trollbeads: http://www.charmsaddict.com/category/novobeads/brand-introduction-novobeads/.

  • Faye

Lovely beads! It’s so hard to find that color Leann in glass beads you did a great job with the TB’s uniques!! I WISH Novobeads would give a bead inventory on their Spring release bracelet photo. It is so hard to know exactly which cz’s they used. For example, my Sage Crystal looks identical to the bead you feature here Leann called Spring Green CZ. My Spring Green CZ looks darker and more olive cast than yours.

    • rainey Smith

The green CZ they used in their promotional picture is the Signature (large) size Green Pasture. I happen to know that because I talked to the owner (is it Alan?) when I ordered my silver beads. He identified it as Green Pastures and I ordered one because I didn’t have that color.

I didn’t ask about the orange ones because I had a number of the CZs in that range.

Some of the CZs have one color core and a different color on the perimeter. As a result they’re VERY reactive to light and will photograph differently every time if the light and angle aren’t identical. Personally, I think they’re complex and spectacular and you can’t go wrong no matter what color they look like at any moment.

      • Faye

ALL the greens on the bracelet are Green Pasture? Or just the one in front, Rainey? Do you know?
I have several of their Signature CZ’s and I adore them!

      • rainey Smith

No, certainly not. I forgot how many CZs they used. I was only interested in the yellow/green (Green Pasture) one tho, so my bad! =o

if you call Novo, they answer the phone and they are extremely helpful. They’ll work out for you which CZs you want.

I had to call in my order because I was moving and had to be absolutely sure what I ordered arrived at the address I was at that I was due to leave shortly.

Do call them. They’ll make sure you get the one/s you’re interested in. And they take returns. Their CZs are fantastic but don’t photograph in a consistent reliable way because part of being as lively as they are means that they are constantly changing. I bet you’ll love them but you can rest assured you can return anything you don’t.

      • Faye

Thanks Rainey. I will have to call them because I don’t want to buy duplicates of any of the Novobeads cz/crystals I already have. They’ve been unresponsive to three emails and facebook page messages. But like you said, if I call, I may get a better response! I DO so like their macaroons, cz & crystals!!!

      • rainey Smith

I had e-mail go ignored too. They’re much better with phone contacts.

      • Leann

You’re so right, Rainey. The Novobeads CZ beads are fabulous and why I love this brand so much! Especially their mini-CZ too. 🙂

    • Leann

Faye, you totally caught me! I couldn’t remember what my CZ color was called and was trying to find it on their website. It *is* Sage Green, not Spring Green :(, I was looking for the right one and didn’t see it. Their stock photos are much different from the beads IRL so it’s hard to tell!

  • Raven97

    Oh my Leann,
Love this bracelet, the greens are very soothing . Any idea of the price on the Curling Vine?
    Angela

    • Leann

Hi Angela! Thanks so much, the big curling vine is $37 :).

  • Raven97

Oops checked Perlen via link for price. Thanks.
    Angela,
