Kathy Perras’ Stardusts

perrasbeads-stardust-collectionToday I’m so excited to be introducing a new design from Kathy Perras called Stardust!  These beads were released over the weekend and I have been keen to showcase them ever since Kathy told me about this idea.  The Stardust designs feature dichroic glass sprinkled within the glass above a colored core.  There are almost 30 colors available in this set, and each one is a bit different for a truly one of a kind look.

Kathy generously sent me a wide range of colors to show off, including families of green, blue, purple, black & white, red, and silvered glass.  The decision to include dichroic flecks within the glass is pure genius as it gives off a iridescent pearlescence to the beads.  The amount of clustering of the glitter is entirely unique and varies from a light dusting to a condensed grouping.  I find myself preferring the more spaced out inclusions so the inner color can show through, although I really love the completely covered Silvered Stardust (pictured below). With almost 30 colors, there’s a good chance that these will match whatever color scheme you’re going for and I adore having so many shades to choose from.

I find myself continually amazed by this artist’s talent and her craftsmanship as she has yet to disappoint me in any of her designs.  These beads are cored with solid silver tubing and can only fit on non-threaded bracelets like Trollbeads, but not Pandora.  Kathy’s work can be found on her Etsy shop PerrasBeads, and ships from her studio in Oregon.  I couldn’t resist and created 2 bracelets with celestial silvers to display all these wonderful beads!  They pair fabulously with Kathy’s Silvered Glimmers and Feathers collection as well.  Don’t you just love this design?  Which color is your favorite?

Leann…thanks for showcasing such a beautiful collection; do they fit *only* troll bracelets, or will they fit on other threadless chains and bangles without the large ends? Kathy’s site describing each bead does say for Troll only, so….(I probably just answered my own question), but some of the threadless bracelets work with trollbeads, right? Thanks, and take care…Kim

    • Leann

You’re so welcome! I love Kathy’s work and she’s so fun to talk to. Yes, I mention in the post that these beads will fit other “threadless” bracelets, just not Pandora, Chamilia, or Ohm since they’ve got the threading on the ends. 🙂

      • FairObjective

Thanks, Leann; I must have interpreted Kathy’s site a little *too* literally, since it states after every bead “fits ONLY Troll”. So, maybe I can wear her beads on my Chamilia Flex and Solid Bangles. I’d assumed I could, until I went to her site and read the “directions” – then I wasn’t sure. I’m not very experienced with Troll yet, though I do plan on trying some of their beautiful glass as soon as I can, along with Kathy’s. Have a great day, and take care…Kim

      • Leann

Oh yes, they should fit on the bangles no problem. I’m glad you like these! She’s an amazing artist and Trollbeads glass is out of this world! Be careful you’re going to get hooked ;).

These look like the starlight elfbeads I got– the ones that say they glow in the dark but really don’t . Wish these fit on Pandora!

    • Leann

These don’t glow in the dark :). It’s got like a mother of pearl look. It’s a shame they don’t work on Pandora, but those Trollbeads fans are purists too.

  • Amanda Sky

I just received 3 beads I ordered from her a few weeks ago and they’re just so fantastic. I have to keep myself from looking at her etsy shop if I know I can’t afford some extra beads lol

    • Leann

Awesome! Which 3 did you pick out? She’s got so many amazing designs. 🙂

  • Faye

I don’t like them as much as I do the Silvered Glimmers. These are more silver flecks and dont’ have the depth of colors I liked in Kathy’s beautiful silvered glimmer beads.
These look like Elfbeads Starlight beads.
I like Kathy’s beads a lot, they are beautiful.

    • Leann

It’s hard to tell on photo, but the silver flecks are pearlescent in person and don’t look too much like the Elfbeads Starlight, except they both are colorful and have inclusions, lol. 🙂

      • Faye

I will take another look, Leann. I hope Kathy makes more silvered glimmers in mauves, purples, pearls, pinks, … they look GORGEOUS with any of the TB’s aurora bead combinations or my mother’s day bracelet.

      • Leann

The silvered glimmers are amazing! These also come in the silver glass, and if you can imagine like mother of pearl inclusions :).
