Continuing our look at some of Kathy Perras’ most popular designs, this review features her Mirror Armadillos. Kathy makes incredible dillos and in the exclusive interview with her, I introduced one of her newest creations, the Snakeskin Armadillos. The Mirror Dillos are another design marvel; the glass is very shiny and highly reflective so their name is aptly given. It makes for a devil of time photographing but the effect is quite amazing and well-worth the effort.
It looks like the bead has a cream base and the overall effect is that of a more neutral tone, but the colors shining off the surface range between purple, blue, and burnt red. There is definitely a metallic sheen to the beads giving them a contemporary feel. There are similarities between these Mirror Dillos and the Snakeskin Dillos which both have the reflective coating but the Mirror Dillos lack the snakeskin pattern of course. These two designs complement each other beautifully and Kathy’s beads a pairs perfectly with Trollbeads glass as well.
Kathy’s designs can be ordered through her Etsy shop: PerrasBeads. These beads are lovingly made in her home studio in Portland, OR and each one is wonderfully unique. Do keep in mind that the charms are small cored which means that they can only fit on bracelets without threads, including Trollbeads, *redbalifrog*, and Novobeads. I also have a number of Kathy’s other dillo designs but I will save those for another day ;). What has been your favorite PerrasBeads design so far?
