Featuring Nomination

nomination-coverIt’s been a busy year on the blog already as we’ve added a number of new brands and today I’m excited to be introducing another called Nomination.  Nomination is also known as Italian style charm bracelets (compared to the European style, like Pandora and Trollbeads) which is a flat band; this fashion accessory exploded onto the scene during my middle school and high school days (20 years or so ago) and has been wildly popular.  I can’t believe it’s taken me this long, but I’ve finally gotten my first Nomination composable bracelet!  Created in 1987 in Florence Italy, this company features spring-loaded links where each segment can be changed as desired.

The bracelet and links are made from stainless steel, which is more durable than silver and won’t tarnish or fade, plus it’s hypoallergenic and requires little maintenance to keep its high shine.  The most popular is the silver finish, but the classic bracelets also come in gold, bronze, and titanium.  The bands are elastic and stretches to go over the wrist, making them a snap to put on and take off.  If you’re interested in Nomination, I highly recommend going with a Starter Bracelet Set which comes with the base bracelet and one charm for a very affordable $40USD.

The decorative links can be bought individually to switch out the base links, like any charm bracelet.  The links come in a variety of finishes and themes and provides the pops of color to this jewelry.  They are available in Classic, Big, Smarty, and Tiny, which indicates the width of the pieces; correspondingly, this changes the overall width of the bracelet as well.  Again, Classic is the most common and Nomination offers a wide selection of designs including ones with gemstones, Swarovski crystals, enamel, gold, and sterling silver dangles.

nomination-star-starter-braceletTo change out the link takes a bit of practice, as you have to stretch out the bracelet then unclip tiny latches on the link.  I’ve tried to take pictures to demonstrate, I hope they make sense!  There’s also a tool that can be purchased separately or often comes free with certain purchases (like the starter bracelet), which makes changing these out a snap.  I got the Star Starter Bracelet which comes with the Star charm in gold, and a couple other pieces that I’ve switched out the base links for.  I plan on following up with a review after I’ve had more wear with this bracelet.

Along with this brand premiere I’d also like to introduce Argento, a fantastic UK stockist that carries all the biggest brands, including Pandora, Thomas Sabo, and Nomination.  They also offer free deliveries to the US for orders over $80USD and there are no shipping restrictions for this brand.  Have you experienced Italian charm bracelets before?

I like it! I have 12 or so from years ago. I really still like them..

    • Leann

I remember them from high school, they were all the rage! 🙂

  • Laura Summers

These were huge when I was in high school! I still have mine – it has a “sweet 16” charm. 🙂 I didn’t realize they were still a fad – I haven’t seen one in years!

    • Leann

I totally agree! These were super popular at my high school too. I couldn’t afford one then, so I’m happy I finally got one! I think they’ve still got traction in Europe. 🙂

Thanks for showing this. I have two from years ago and I love them . Just dug them out and am going to wear alongside me Pandora as the picture shows. One of mine is totally filled with souvenirs from Greece to Hawaii to Graceland and then some.

    • Leann

Yay! It’s great to revisit our other jewelry ;). I like stacking it with my other bracelets, the mix of textures look great together.

  • Leilani

I heard of them years ago & thought about getting one, but I didn’t have money back then. Do they come in a specific size or are they adjustable?

    • Leann

I couldn’t afford them either in high school! It’s nice to be able to indulge in these things now ;). They are completely adjustable but the starter sets come in varies sizes and you can always get a bigger size and take off extra links. 🙂

I used to have one in like middle school! It wasn’t a specific brand though…
    Thanks for sharing!

    • Leann

You bet! Blast from the past, right? 😉

Hmm…I remember reading about these, but I never had one! Not sure why as I graduated high school WAY more than 20 years ago!! I will have to check these out! Thanks Leann!

    • Leann

All the girls had them, I wish I had gotten into charm bracelets back then, I bet they were cheaper! Haha. 🙂

I’ve a Nomination ring and a bracelet. I recently bought a few new links and was very impressed with the selection to choose from. I’m in the US & ordered from Precious Accents

    • Leann

They’re surprisingly comfortable! I was worried that the links might pinch but haven’t had that problem. It’s a very easy/low maintenance concept :).

  • Joy

    I love the dark color!

    • Leann

      It’s really nice! 🙂

  • TammySue

I have several Nomination bracelets and love them! The one I wear everyday is composed of alternating gold hearts and colored hearts with gold backgrounds (18k and enamel). So pretty! 🙂

    • Leann

Sounds gorgeous! Please share a picture if you can :).

  • Erin

I have a couple of these, but haven’t worn them in forever! Maybe I’ll have to get them back out. 🙂

    • Leann

:D, isn’t it nice to rediscover something you’ve already got instead of buying something new?

  • stargirl_82

Thanks for mentioning Argento Leann, I work for them! Also, Nomination bracelets are unisex – there are plenty of options for men too. My boyfriend wears one of these bracelets everyday 🙂 They’re good, as you’ve said, they can be made any size and my BF finds it difficult to get bracelets that stretch over his hands so this was a great find for him.

    • Leann

That’s wonderful! I think the Italian charm bracelets are really neat. They’re kinda difficult at first to change out but you get it pretty quickly :).
