The Chamilia Fall 2014 Collection debut lasted month and I’ve been enjoying this release immensely. The theme was titled Life is a Journey with two big motifs – family and travel. The travel charms are simply superb and offers a lot of versatility in both the modes of transportation and styling. Today’s review will focus on Motorin’, Ready for Takeoff, Around the World, and Steamer Trunk.
Having been so closely associated with Swarovski and bling, I’m really impressed with the new direction that the design team has undertaken. The details on these charms are amazing and so fun! A motorcycle bead has long been requested by charm fans and the Motorin’ lives up to those expectations and then some. This is actually a dual tone piece as it features oxidized wheels that actually move, how cool is that?! There’s also a large crystal in the place of the headlight which adds a glamorous embellishment. The dangle is not too long but it’s quite substantial.
Ready For Takeoff features an airplane, our most common form of long-distance travel now. It is mostly silver but has a couple small crystals on the belly of the plane for the lights which is a nice touch. Otherwise, it is a chunky charm but it does sit on the bracelet which is what I prefer.
Teal has been a popular color for the past couple of years and the Around the World charm is a perfect combination of chic and functional. The bead is circular and the teal covers the ocean portion of the globe; the enamel used is a beautiful metallic but it looks matte from afar. The continents are raised in relief so really highlights the silver against the colored background.
My favorite charm from this set is the Steamer Trunk – the little square trunk has an amazing amount of detail. The entire surface is scored to give it a rough texture, and it even has the straps and handle on the top. The best feature is that it has an articulating lid which opens to reveal a fabulous pair of flip flops accented with green enamel. Even better, the inside of the lid is engraved with “Passport” and a plane which is such an adorable feature!
This is a great collection and they certainly lived up to the stock photos. Chamilia is compatible with all bracelet brands including Pandora. This brand can be purchased from their official website or authorized retailers like Classic Beads. I couldn’t resist extending the teal theme of these sparkling beauties, so I added more teal colored glass to round out the bracelet. Have you seen this collection in person yet?
