Pandora Olympic Medal

Unexpectedly, news broke tonight that Pandora has withdrawn sales of the Olympic Medal worldwide as of today, and customers who try to purchase this charm after July 23rd will be facing disappointment.  This was confirmed by Gillette’s Jewellers, one of Australia’s biggest and oldest Pandora retailers, on their Facebook page just an hour ago.  While the Olympic Medal was originally touted as the UK exclusive charm in the Best of British collection, Central Europe and Australia managed to receive stock of this dangle for sale.

Of course, I ordered the medal from Perlen as soon as it went on sale and was pleasantly surprised when I received it.  While I thought it would have been too bulky, it is actually every elegant in person, so I was happy to have gotten it!  Perlen kept this charm reasonably well stocked (sometimes limited edition charms sell out in minutes!) for a few weeks, after which they stated that they were not sure if they would receive more shipments as British stores had bought the remaining inventory of the medal.  This begs the question – does the withdrawal just mean that this charm will only be sold in the UK now?  Or is it gone for good?  As of this post, John Greed is one of the last online retailers to have any of the British Medal in stock.  Of course, I will report back as soon as I hear any further developments!

With the London 2012 Olympics set to begin in 4 days, this might throw a monkey wrench into anyone’s plans to get the charm in the city as a souvenir of the games.

  1. Hi there, just to say that I reside in London, UK. If any visitors to London have a problem obtaining this charm, I will be happy to help. I have a few of the dangles and each one will be supplied with an original Pandora receipt. Wishing one and all a great summer. Enjoy the Olympics and stay safe x

Glad I got mine from Perlen on day 1! I love it!

Ditto that. One thing I’ve learned about Pandora, if you see something you like, better to buy it sooner than later!

  3. Ashley says:

Yay! I made the right decision last month by choosing this charm from Perlen! I totally agree Leann, its so elegant against all my other charms. The main reason I love it was because it has the date on it.

Does the UK sell the purple zebra murano charm? I’m so trying to get my hands on one! :)

Well that’s odd… i’m from Portugal and the Best British set just arrived to the portuguese Pandora stores this weekend including the medal charm. I saw it in 2 different stores.

I’ve been thinking about getting one for quite some time now.
After I’ve read this post I bought one on eBay right away. Who knows how the prices might rise as soon as people find out about this.

I found the double decker bus and the olympic medal in the Lenox Mall in Atlanta about 2 weeks ago. I was very surprised they had them.

I got a RWB murano, a double decker bus, but I wasn’t interested on the medallion at first, after I read you blog last night, I go to pandora at Vietnam and get the medallion, they still have it and I paid 50 usd for it, does it too much? I just get it, cos i dont know when I go back to Toronto on September they still have it or not. I know perlen sale cheaper but they don’t have it in stock. Oh, by the way I also got a Chinese new year dragon pendant charm for 45 dollars, I’m super happy with it.

    Hi Ladies ,
Bought the 2012 Dangle from Perlen in June. I am very happy with the charm, it is gorgeous , elegant and a good value for the price paid I know it was less than $30.00 . USD. Even happier that I placed the order from Perlen when I did as within a day they were sold out and came back @ a higher priceand were quickly sold out again.
My youngest Son gifted me the bus for my birthday still debating about the red white and blue murano to complete the set.
I did order the Statue of Liberty from Perlen , not too happy IMO the arm holding the torch should have been posiitioned a bit more away from the bale that goes onto the bracelet so she can move freely. As it is the charm keeps getting caught in a funny angle and I am afraid the torch may break off. Have found this problem with a few dangles am I being too picky or anyone else have this experience ?

    • Lauren says:

      Hi Angela,
I actually have that problem with my charity feather charm. The feather is always getting caught on the bail at an angle, and then has to be straightened out. Wish they’d make them so they move more freely.
